I trace my musical roots through five generations of teachers directly back to Beethoven. It’s not so much the weight of history I feel, however, but rather the joy in being able to pass on this amazing body of knowledge to others. It’s an honour and a privilege.

With more than 30 years’ teaching experience, I don’t follow any fixed methodology but rather take a more holistic view, encouraging students to express their own personality through the music and keys. In order to do so effectively, technique and an understanding of musical issues are important – and this forms a part of each lesson. This doesn’t have to be a dull process, though. In fact, we usually have a lot of fun together!

I welcome children, university students and adults alike, and my pupils range from beginners to professional musicians. We all have something to learn and something to give. This applies equally to both of us in our student-teacher relationship too!

I charge £56 per hour, and will travel to your home or college for lessons.
